How Many Calories In Skirt Steak?

taboo: religion

Disclaimer: I am aware that many of my friends do not fall into this out of malice, and that does not apply to most people I know. Still, if I offend someone by saying something that's not true, and when you talk about religion that is almost inevitable - I apologize. If you can relate to, well, there's nothing I can do.

I always go to Mass on Sundays at 6 pm or 12 of buddy_jesus noon, since I have at least 10 years. If I can not go a little early, or on Saturdays at 6 if I know that I can not go. And if I can not assure me apologize to God, even though I know que Él me entiende. Y me he bautizado, hecho la Primera Comunión y confirmado. Sólo me falta el matrimonio.

Dos cosas me intrigan de lo anterior. Uno, que hay gente que no me lo cree. ¿Es por mi personalidad? ¿Que de verdad no parezco un tipo religioso? ¿Qué me estás queriendo decir?

For the rest, going to church is out of the question, the nuns are a nightmare, do not believe in priests and good, nor talk about Easter.

I'm not judging anyone, because if there is something I think is a huge gift of God is freedom of choice, even if the case were wrong. If someone chooses that Sundays are for rest lying on his bed after a hard week as hell, so be it, that something worked. Ditto for the possibility of fun for a week of work, if you leave the crowd, of course.

Also, there must be clear on one thing: for every PowerPoint presentation that weighs 800MB, has a MIDI music pavosísima and closes with "Send this to 50 people for God to enter a little in their lives," is a confused Christian (or ten determined) who refuses to open. We have not reached the end of the Jehovah's Witnesses to get the word of God preached a weekend at seven in the morning or loudly in the boulevard of Chacaíto (and for what it's worth, your hard work has to admire) intrusive as to what, but almost.

Why think that?

When do we compare to religion as a nuisance?

Part of it may come in the eternal hope that we do not want to be judged. Yet for all that is liberal in comparison with Catholicism, Judaism, Buddhism and particularly Islam, there is much that our beloved religion says we do not see well. A virgin until marriage? Who ever heard of such a thing? How many times have you had thoughts of "impure"? "Honor the holidays? Yes, as it relates to travel, instead of respecting the days you have to go to church, maybe. And how many have coveted neighbor's wife (or man, no pendejas are made), or committed adultery? Thankfully, that of "thou shalt not steal" and "kill" not taken seriously (does it?) And that of "honor thy father and thy mother" is widespread. (Is it more, you'll remember the Ten Commandments ?

party also may be that many consider the commandments something against human nature. We are essentially beings in need of sex. We are not pure beings. Do not want to be monks or priests, or nuns. No, we free ourselves from time to time. We are, in essence, reasoning animals. And I mean no offense to anyone eye. How do I resist the temptation of sex? As we showed in Jim Carrey Liar Liar , how to survive in this society without telling lies? If no one will know, and we found a stack of bills on the floor, why not let us be? It is better to say that the Bible was written in a much simpler time than today, where the world has become more demanding and the pressure to conform is overwhelming.

That's another part: the world has become such that talking about religion or particularly religious has become the equivalent of a pariah. I remember stories of a girl he met in a house of some friends and suggested to read the Bible. Yes, unfortunately they laughed in his face. In many families know that a daughter wants to be a nun or a priest son is preferable to declare themselves gay, but not by much. (Something we do not agree, by the way. Not a bit.) Maybe it's because being religious is tantamount to being conservative ...

I believe that everyone should have their own vision of religion and assume it as such an honest and sincere. You have to be clear that for some reason the Church condemns masturbation , does not support divorce (with which I agree) and look down the promiscuity and premarital sex (or they are going to discuss Benedict XVI the best way to prevent AIDS is simply not having sex? The condom is still essential if you're going to have sex anyway, so use it, but the abstention can not contradict). And if you look the world in which we are, what might have something wrong with conservatism?

A mother sleeps with the child to keep him from leaving the house. A man impregnates his daughter's sake. Thousands are more concerned with money than anything else. (Is not there one of those commandments says "thou shalt love God above all things?) The prostitution industry is in full swing, and do not even count the pornography. Child I mean. A life is not worth the same as the value for some time, guys, we are aware of that. And better not talk about the violence they are exposed (and I mean the television or video games, I know you can not blame the state of the world, not be assholes, I mean it we see in the news daily, especially those who live here in Venezuela). It is, as my good friend Oswaldo an incredible loss of values. Thank God we still shocked when we found out, almost as much as I may have offended some of you with this letter.

And I think the Church is not free of guilt. I forgive my parents, my family and the priests of which I am friend, and in particular God. But something went wrong in the church, if we reached this point in our history. Perhaps we have been treated too much like children, instead of reasoning as adults. Perhaps the Dark was too long and we're still resentful. Others see hypocrisy in the church. There are too many tele-evangelists in the world, "Stop Suffering", which seem to take advantage of the weakness of people to achieve realero. Some people simply do not trust the priests. Either way, the Catholic Church is losing audience to evangelicals, or simply people who do not go. And honestly? That seems sad.

Having a religion is to believe that there is something better than what we can aspire. It's having someone you trust more than yourself (take that, Jorge Bucay). Is to have a basis on which to base your life, or shape your thinking. Who would you rather follow Gandhi or Kurt Cobain? Courtney Love, or Mother Teresa? And watch: FOLLOW. Do not imitate. Imitating

is trying to do the same as them, do his own actions. Follow is to consider his thought, and in a similar situation, act on what they would do. Is not the same and spelled the same. One requires much dedication, the other less. One can follow many such examples. (My case? Nelson Mandela, Gandhi, Jesus Christ and my father. Not in that order.)

Think. When was the last time you went to church? What do you even read even a bit of the Bible? And why that's rays so bad? Why a church when a moment and you read the reflections of St. Paul? I believe there is nothing wrong with reading, know the doctrine and decide what you can serve to guide you. Find out what the Continental Evangelizing Mission . Y enters into a conversation about religion with people you trust or want. Or start one here, to this humble blogger.

course, do not expect many of you do anything even similar. And that's fine, as I said, honesty first. But as I read once, a weak faith needs exercise. And talk is always good exercise. May God bless.

good thing this government has left us

radical opponents hope that I have not read my blog immediately deleted my feed readers. And I hope that I have visited Chavez do not think that I finally saw the light. No, my people, I remain as opposition as I have always been. I disagree with much of what the government of Hugo Chavez is doing to my country, unless the ads I've heard this week.

But do not fall for flattery: Venezuela has not attracted the vast majority of their governments, at least in time that I have memory. (We will try to ignore that old saying that every people has the government it deserves.) Even so, each government has given us something good, something we should try to rescue to make sure never to retreat to what we before.

I limit myself here to what I've seen, not economic or sociological meters that I can not presume to know because I am no expert on it. Not intend to advertise what I consider to populism or insufficient, as I said, I do not support this government. But I'm the miserable opposition simply think that everything this government does is bad, just because. Deny that it has done good things for all the country is something that many opposition politicians should take into account to make a contrary choice in 2012, or else we will have the same President for a long, long time.

  • We have made an effort to understand policy. Every election, every decree, every move of killing and, yes, unfortunately each chain reminds us that politics has gotten into our lives as never before. Like it or not, we must understand how policy moves to the lowest level, and there are more ways available to participate in any government. The trouble is that most people prefer to avoid meddling in politics by negative that is attached, making the same tricks that have been dragging for so long is repeated ad nauseum. Thank God for the student movements of either side ...
  • History be interesting again. Ezequiel Zamora? "Maisanta? Does the Federal War? Were these names that you knew without a problem before 1998? Good for you. We still have much, we still fall strikeouts with the vast majority of questions about wars, dates, and other founding fathers, but Manuel Caballero books , Iturrieta Elías Pino, Rafael Arráiz Lucca and Inés Quintero compete with international bestsellers. People are looking back, whether to finally understand this, to deny what they hear on the official announcements or by genuine curiosity. And that is healthy, and that "those who do not understand history are condemned to repeat it."
  • appreciate most about us. In many cases, has been out of obligation or because the spring Act has increased the presence of Venezuelan music on radio and television's own talent, or because of the exchange control restrictions have forced us to do more national tourism. But what was discovered or rediscovered, in many cases, beautiful. Huascar Barradas became a common name, the New Wave sound again right in the twilight of life Aldemaro teacher, and many began to know that Venezuela was much more than Margarita, Puerto La Cruz, Merida and large cities. Of course this should also appeared neofolklore, who has failed more than once (avoid listening version of "Thief of Your Love" Gualberto Ibarreto made by La Puta Electrica), has left mixed feelings (not yet know how Rafael feel about the "Chicken" Brito) or indeed have been brilliant (thanks to this album , an entire generation back to listening to Simon Diaz), plus much more serious things .
  • More attention to journalism. Now, I admit it is not clear whether it is good only for the journalists themselves, or the public. And considering that I am part of the guild, it is difficult to say that I have been benefited. Certainly, journalists (sometimes the entire media) assumed the role of opposition politicians were not exercising, and many paid dearly, either with their lives (in the case of Jorge Tortoza ), exile (Patricia Poleo ) or loss of credibility (I'm not treading on the hose to a fellow bomber @ @). But that has the public become more critical mass, when hearing the news. The ideal is to consult various media and determine the source of a story to determine what had really happened, but the number of people who follow blindly half will not stay that way forever.
  • The world is a mystery a little lower. Among the rolls with the government of George W. Bush, alliances with the governments of Bolivia, Ecuador, Nicaragua and, of course, Cuba, the love / hate relationship with Colombia, the drama way Security Council at the UN in 2006, a wink that sometimes come to FARC (which almost cost us dearly all) ... It seems at last understand that Venezuela is not an island in the world, and similarly with historians, international lawyers now have their shining moment, as Julio César Pineda, Fernando Gerbasi, Elsa Cardozo, Maruja Tarre and many others. The fact that we have been in the midst of one of the most important U.S. elections helped to try to understand this world and our place in it a little more.
  • We have a little more social conscience. We need much, but we have ten years in which the needs of the poor are much more present in our lives. More than anything, we began to understand that for too many years, the classes underprivileged of our country have had their requests fulfilled by governments, and even if it has not done so completely, they certainly have a president that speaks to them face to face. Whether you call populist measures, charity or manipulation, but the missions work at a basic level, it is giving them the attention they had received very poorly (to say the least) in the past. (And I'm not debating whether to provide the best service or not, simply that it provides.) Additionally, Community Service Act of Higher Education Student has been considered one of the few laws that brings a real benefit to all involved as it approaches the future generations to the needs of the poorest in the city, which could become more socially conscious professionals in the future. Of course, this brings us to the eternal figure of "father state" I have criticized both, but that's for another day.
  • radicals: an endangered species . In my family there must be a member in every family. Is calling you to tell "and will fall" or "We won this," or "cheated us." That is convinced that Chavez is in power at the point of cheating and terror. That should not vote for him or his family. Another, despite all the work that has happened, can not believe that there are more family members to support it. Yet, when Chavez family was attacked by an opposition as radical as him, the more moderate left to defend. The same can be said for the rest of the country, especially after what we experienced the April 11, 2002 , the year where all the radicals were in front. There we saw the result of both radicalism. Seeing things in black and white have not given us a result, fortunately, we want to see the shades of gray are beginning to make ourselves heard.
  • We are essentially democratic . Métanselo in mind: Chavez is a dictator. Fidel Castro is a dictator Robert Mugabe is a dictator, Aleksandr Lukashenko is a dictator, in my personal opinion, but not Hugo Chavez. Chavez would be, as Teodoro Petkoff, a autocrat, one who concentrates all power in his hands, believing that he and only he can lead a nation. And gústenle or not, man has won almost all elections that have been submitted. And with one exception , Venezuelans have come to vote. That seems so simple, involves a great truth: we do not want to experience something even close to what we had in 1958 when another was a dictator in power, when people could not speak out against the government without being killed immediately. Sure, here stands one against the government and immediately was attacked verbally, but you can still talk. Do not tell me no, please.

If there is anything more than what I've forgotten, please leave it in the comments. But I would like to contribute a little to move beyond entrenched positions, it is shown that even in a country so polarized there is room to see how good the contrary, there is no need to call "enemy" for it. I want to hear your opinions, tell me I'm crazy, yes, that is how we should think, whatever. But by God, let's talk.

My Skin Had Do Many Indentations, What Can I Do

Dolina El Indio Solari and popular culture

Sailing YouTube, I found this program selection Alejandro Dolina, which reflects on popular culture. I found it very interesting.

Some notes:
-is a sin to speak out against popular culture because they will tell you a lot of things, elitist, etc.
"The only culture that there is high culture, which awakens the mind, not the drugged. That's the only culture that exists. Moreover, this sleight of reducing culture, setting it down until the head of the unfit will manage to touch, that's a tall tale.
"Complexity increases the pleasure.
-It seems that we do not understand all is to understand sin. And not true.
"It's better to know that there is something we do not understand and which is superior, lanyards believe us because we base times height over two.

"Real poetry does not say anything, just mark the possibilities. Opens all doors. You can pass whatever suits you.'s why poetry attracts me because it is so eternal. In Therefore there are people, they can remember the words and combinations of words. Nothing else can survive a holocaust but poetry and songs. No one can remember an entire novel. Nobody can describe a film, a sculpture, a painting, but as there are human beings, songs and poetry can continue. If my poetry aims to achieve something, is to free people from the limited ways they see and feel. "
